The Opportunity for Explosives Expert:
We are seeking a highly qualified Explosives Expert to join our Fire and Explosives Inspection Department. This is a fixed-term contract position lasting from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
What You’ll Do:
- Investigate and analyze explosion incidents involving explosives, fireworks, gas, or flammable materials.
- Determine the blast site and collect critical samples for analysis.
- Analyze explosive materials and debris to determine the cause of the explosion.
- Examine primary and secondary fragments from the explosive device, analyzing their spread.
- Estimate the amount and type of explosive materials used, including laboratory analysis of residual materials.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports in collaboration with other explosives analysis experts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the field of explosives investigation.

Who We’re Looking For:
- A highly motivated and detail-oriented explosives expert with a strong safety record.
- A PhD in Chemistry or Physics (minimum 3 years’ experience, 8 years’ total experience preferred).
- Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Physics (minimum 3 years’ experience, 11 years’ total experience preferred).
- For candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Physics, a minimum of 3 years’ experience and 12 years’ total experience is required.
- Proven experience in explosives investigation and analysis is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
- Excellent communication and report writing abilities are crucial.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team is vital.
